Carmada - Privacy Policy

This privacy policy explains how Carmada, a browser game developed by Heffay Presents ("we", "us", or "our"), handles your information. Carmada is played at carmada.heffaypresents.com.

Summary: You can play Carmada without an account. The game has no ads, no analytics, no tracking, and no chat. If you sign in with your Heffay Presents account, the game saves your progress under your account.

Playing Without an Account

You do not need an account to play. When you play anonymously:

Display name - the name you type in is shown to the other players in your lobby and match. Please do not use your real name or email address.
Match data - your vehicle build, turn orders, and results are held on our server while a match is running. So that a server restart does not wipe a match in progress, a copy is saved to Azure Blob Storage, and that copy is deleted shortly after the match is finished or abandoned (within about an hour).
Browser storage - the game keeps a session identity in your browser's session storage (so you can rejoin a match if you reload the page). In your browser's local storage it keeps your display name, your game settings, and any vehicle builds you save while not signed in. This stays on your device and is not a tracking cookie.

Cookies

The game uses only the cookies it needs in order to work:

a security cookie (anti-forgery) that protects the game's pages from forged requests
a load-balancing cookie set by our hosting provider (Azure) that keeps your requests going to the same server

We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

Signing In With Your Heffay Presents Account

Signing in is optional. It is handled by the Heffay Presents website, which hands the game a short-lived sign-in token. The game receives only:

your account ID
your name - your display name if you have set one. If you have not, the token carries your account username instead, which for an email sign-in is your email address. In that case the game uses only the part before the @ as your name and does not store the full address. Set a display name in your account settings to choose what other players see.
if you are an approved map author, that role

The game does not receive your password or your other account details. To keep you signed in between visits, the game stores a long-lived sign-in token in your browser's local storage. It is valid for up to 12 months, expires sooner if you do not return for 30 days, and is revoked when you sign out.

While signed in, the game saves your progress on our server, tied to your account ID:

Arena progress - your Chrome balance, Prestige, unlocked characters, achievements, garage level, owned vehicles and weapons, character progress, and career statistics
Campaign progress - your vehicles, crew, and position on the overworld map
Saved vehicle builds

"Chrome" is a virtual in-game currency. It has no real-world value and cannot be bought, sold, or exchanged for money.

What We Do Not Collect

We do not run advertising or analytics in the game, and we do not track you across sites
We do not sell, rent, or share your information with third parties for marketing
The game has no chat or free-text messaging between players
We do not collect payment information - Carmada is free to play
We do not collect your location

Third-Party Services

Microsoft Azure - hosts the game and stores match and progress data. Azure may also keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses and the pages requested.
Heffay Presents - provides optional sign-in. Your account is covered by the Heffay Presents Privacy Policy.

Data Retention

Saved copies of live matches are deleted within about an hour of the match ending or being abandoned
Your saved progress is kept until you ask us to delete it

Your Rights

You can ask for a copy of your saved game data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. To do so, contact us at privacy@heffaypresents.com.

Children's Privacy

Carmada is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have, please contact us.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page with a revised "Last updated" date.
